American Planning Association (APA)
Knowledge Center

The APA Knowledge Center offers easy access to e-learning, planners’ training service courses, workshops, and learning opportunities at conferences. APA is a nonprofit, professional membership organization for practicing planners, and also offers education for planning students, elected and appointed officials, planning commissioners, and interested citizens.

Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM)
Training Resources

Training resources from the ASFPM include webinars, classroom trainings, a calendar of upcoming events, and additional resources. The mission of ASFPM is to mitigate the losses, costs and human suffering caused by flooding and to promote wise use of the natural and beneficial floodplain functions. Members represent local, state and federal government agencies, citizen groups, private consulting firms, academia, the insurance industry and lenders.

Center for Land Use Education and Research (CLEAR)
Land Use Academy

Located at the University of Connecticut, CLEAR’s Land Use Academy provides local land use commissioners with the fundamental knowledge and skills needed to review, implement, and enforce land use decisions. CLEAR focuses on the overlapping issues of water management, land use planning, climate resilience, and geospatial (mapping) technology.

National Association of Counties (NACo)
Education and Training

Education and Training pages on the NACo website provide links to workshops, podcasts, and video resources to strengthen the capacity of county leaders. NACo brings county officials together to exchange ideas, build new leadership skills, pursue transformational county solutions, enrich the public’s understanding of county government, and exercise exemplary leadership in public service.

National Disaster Preparedness Training Center (NDPTC)
Course Catalog and E-learning Resources

This center provides programs related to homeland security and disaster management, with a specific focus on natural hazards, coastal communities, and the special needs and opportunities of islands and territories. See the course catalog and e-learning resources for more information. The NDPTC is a member of the National Domestic Preparedness Consortium.

National Estuarine Research Reserve Association (NERRA)
Coastal Training Program

NERRA supports training through the National Estuarine Research Reserves Coastal Training Program. The coastal training program at each reserve helps local coastal officials identify solutions and make informed choices by bringing relevant science and expertise to bear on local environmental issues.

The Nature Conservancy (TNC)
Conservation Training

Conservation Training is TNC’s open and free learning community. The site offers conservation-based training materials from TNC and conservation partner organizations. TNC leads conservation efforts around the world to protect ecologically important lands and waters for nature and people.

Urban Land Institute (ULI)
Education Program

ULI’s education program offers practical instruction for land use and real estate professionals at all levels, delivering best practices and lessons learned by experienced professionals. ULI is a nonprofit research and education organization supported by its members. Serving as a multidisciplinary real estate forum, ULI facilitates an open exchange of ideas, information, and experience among industry leaders and policy makers dedicated to creating better places.

U.S. Climate Resilience Toolkit
Training Courses

The training courses highlighted within the U.S. Climate Resilience Toolkit can help you acquire the tools, skills, and knowledge you need to manage your climate-related risks and opportunities. All courses are free of charge and are offered in at least one of three formats: online audio-visual presentations (Online, Self-Guided and Tool Tutorial), training webinars (Online, Scheduled Lecture Series), and residence training courses (Onsite, Instructor-Led). The U.S. Climate Resilience Toolkit is a website designed to help people find and use tools, information, and subject matter expertise to build climate resilience. The toolkit offers information from across the U.S. federal government in one easy-to-use location.
